Couples counselling

Conflict inevitably arises in close relationships as they deepen. While challenging, what we perceive as problems can provide the opportunity for personal growth and greater intimacy.

I focus on supporting authentic connection between couples, in relation to the issues at hand. This involves a collaborative process to uncover prevailing relationship patterns, raise awareness of their origin, and identify and implement strategies for caring for self and other. Through improved communication, greater understanding of one another, and skills for emotional self- and co-regulation, couples become more creative at finding their own solutions or ways forward.

I am trained in Presence-Oriented Relationship Therapy (PORT Level 2). PORT is an approach that draws on a range of research and practices, including that of John and Julie Gottman, Imago Relationship Therapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy, Psychobiological Approach to Couples’ therapy (PACT), Humanistic-Existential Approach to Relationship Therapy (HEART) and the Developmental Model.

I am a member of professional associations: PAnzA and NZCCA.
